Hi guys,
quick question, i recently bought a corsa and ive just come to notice whilst driving when i change from a gear back to first gear whilst i am moving (usually coming up to lights that are on red just before i stop) as i change and push into first gear, it is stiff and feels as if i have to push it to click into gear. This only happens when im moving and the car goes into first gear fine when the engines off or even when just stationary with the engine on...
This isnt a major problem but i just thought if any one knows what the problem is and any advice ??
thanks
slight stiff gear change

Re: slight stiff gear change
That is normal, you aren't meant to select first while moving more than a few mph.

my car does it, so do loads of other cars apart from corsa's
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts
Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Re: slight stiff gear change
If you learn how a gearbox works, specifically how the sycros work you'll realise why all gearboxes will be stiff when changing into a gear which is wildly different in speed to the previous. It's just reminding you to match your revs and double-de-clutch!

Re: slight stiff gear change
Its because it dosen't have sycromesh in the gearbox to let you put it into first at a high speed tbh you really should only need to use first gear to pull away from a stand still or if you need to pull away quick on a roudabout, but mine happily pulls away in second, but you have to be going quite slowly to put it in otherwise just use second gear
