Alloys Question
Hey gang,
Got a reletivly noobish question for ya! I am looking at fitting 17's on my 97 R reg Corsa B. Will this be possible? I have lowered it 40mm and 15's haven't been a problem so I may jump up a bit if it's possible. Will I need to roll the arches or can I get away with it?
Cheers guys!

Re: Alloys Question
yer you could easily get them on if you buy wheels with the correct off set and low profile tyres . but you would loose some power .

Re: Alloys Question
And how does that happen? 17" with correct sized tyres are no bigger/smaller in diameter than a standard rim/tyre combination. I'm guessing they would be slightly lighter than steelies as well.kie-1200sxi-shed wrote: but you would loose some power .

Re: Alloys Question
it will trust me, and steelies are probs the lightest weight wheels you can get before you go into lightweight alloys.

Re: Alloys Question
Could you explain how you lose power? Do you mean acceleration or something?
If you change wheels your engine still has the same amount of power. If you use tyres of the wrong aspect ratio on your new wheels it will affect the gearing of the car leading to different acceleration and top speed, the power is still the same.

Re: Alloys Question
okay you will have the same power but you car will not be able to use the power as effectivly . good example is , what good you run faster in trainners or rigger boots,

Re: Alloys Question
17s on corsa dont look right,16s at most id say..and really you will need your arches rolled if your cars lowered..even on standard springs 17s rub like fook lol

Re: Alloys Question
it all depends what the offset is. if they are vauxhall rims no matter what size they are they will fit without rubbing (i think) but even 15s at the wrong offset will rub on a 40mm drop
