Squeeking from back brake?

Hi All, today i noticed a sound coming from the back of the car .. having heard what its like when the bearings on its way out .. it sounded different from that so i dont think its the bearing going...then later on i began to hear a squeek coming from it .. the left hand side i think. Now im not sure if this is the shoes on there way out .. or poo loads of water causing problems .. as theres quite a lot of snow and sludge about today.

Is this a sign that the shoes need changing ?

mine does that if its been sat a while, i just drive along and gently pull the handbrake to grind off the rust.

thats if its the same problem.

Could be that .. but i first heard a weird noise after driving about an hour ... come to think of it now i think the squeaking will be a bit of rust because i left it standing a few hours before going back out.
