Engine Problems when slowing down

Hi i've got a 1.0l 12v Corsa B v Reg, quite recently i have started having problems with the engine when slowing down. First thing i noticed was when i was going down a hill for a while in gear the engine management light would come on but as soon as i accelerated it would just go off, so thought nothing of it. Now when i start slowing down be it for traffic lights or a roundabout the engine will start spluttering then stall (which is not safe on roundabouts).

I topped up the oil in the engine the other day but nothing happened.
Really stuck on this and all help appreciated!!

Clean/replace or blank off the EGR valve.
