Buying 1.0 12v?
I'm thinking about selling my 96 reg 1.2 8v and get a 2000 reg much lower mileage 1.0 12v.
Everything about it is in much better condition.
I was just wondering if there was any common faults with these engines and if they are expensive to fix?
I dont want to buy a car thinking it will last me longer if its highly likely somethings going to go wrong.
What are peoples views on these engines?
Thanks
Dan

1.0i 12v X10XE (1997-2000)
Top Speed 93 mph
Power Output 54 bhp @ 5600 rpm
Torque 82nm @ 2800rpm
1.2 8v X12SZ (1993-1997)
Top Speed 90 mph
Power Output 45 bhp @ 4600 rpm
Torque Output 88nm @ 2800 rpm
the 1lt is a better engine and quite abit faster , with it being a 'xe' its pritty bullet proof . so id go for it

hello mate,
I own a 1.0L 12v corsa b club 3dr.
had a few problems with a couple of sensors the other day,it was the MAF sensor, cranksharft sensor and the camsharft sensor.
apart from that its lovely to drive and cheap to insure/petrol etc.

common fault with all corsas , only thing id say is hear out for a rattling noise comming from engine , cuz as i remember there chain driven ? if there a rattle it may be wear in the chain. also just basic checks, best thing to do it take sumone with you that knows stuff bout car or get rac for £30 to have a look .C0rsa-B-1L wrote:hello mate,

Re: Buying 1.0 12v?
i ended up buying a 1.6 sport in the end
managed to save up enough and found a pretty solid low milage car
needs a few lil things sorted as would any 11 year old car but its great fun, well worth the money
