Engine warning light and rattling

i own a 98 1.0 12v and yesterday after owning the car for over a year the engine warning light came on for like 20 mins. then it went on and off intermittently for 10 mins and then hasnt been on since. also the engine sounds a bit rattly, i know its an old car but i dont know whether it sounds normal? and also when stationary (e.g. traffic lights or stopped) with foot on the break pedal i can feel a slight shaking and juddering.

this all sounds a bit worse than it actualy is..the car still seems fine

any ideas or adive?????......

could be a number of things to be honest mate.
The most common faults with the 1.0L 12v are... (i own 1 lol)

MAF (mass air flow) sensor
Idle control valve <---- there the main 3
EGR valve

I had to replace the cam-sharf sensor the the crank-sharft sensor the other day though =/

Oh and when it judders at traffic lights ect, where does the revs sit?

revs are normal can just feel a vibration through the pedal.

i know there are quite a few faults with the 1.0l's

any more ideas on what i could check myself or what to replace......
