Three point harnesses

So I broke the buckle of my three point harness by catching it in my door too much stupid i know.
I thought it would be simple buy a new one and swap them over however I have a major problem... (although it could be a simple solution)


These are the two belts...same standard sparco three point harness just ones got an extremely old design



This is where I have the problem, where the harness attaches at the side of the seat the holes are different sizes, the bolt still fits through but the washer (apparently there to allow movement of the seat belt) doesn't fit
The black one is the old belt and the silver is the new



The washer fits perfectly into the old belt

and (substitute the hairbrush for the bolt that I left in my car lol and excuse my hands ) slots together like this....(below) and then the bolt screws into the base of the seat





This is the new one with the washer... as you can see the hole and the outer ring of the washer are the same size so the washer wont fit in

Ive been back to halfords where I got the belt from they said that the bolts etc used are the ones that come standard with the car and they cant help me if it doesn't fit,
I'm wondering is it possible to just fit the seatbelt without the washer? will it make a difference to the flexibility of the seatbelt?
OOOOR does anyone know what sort of a shop would stock different size washers so I could just find one that fits?

lol thats the first thing i thought to do...just make the hole bigger..quick and simple solution

My only excuse is I'm a girl, I don't regularly use a drill so it didn't come to mind .


The guy from halfords said to me that to have bucket seats you need to have the seat belt bolted to the floor and that mine were unsafe...is that true?

I was starting to get worried that I had a bodge job.
wherever I go to ask about my car they always tell me the problem is worse than it is and try to get me to pay them to fix it. I think they think i've got 'stupid woman driver' written across my forehead or something

*Blond Moment* Hey guys would a normal drill be able to grind away the metal? or would i have to use a special drill?

got it sorted, went to a garage near me and they had huge drill ends that took up the whole of the hole and that did the trick just took a few mm off all round.
