Mainbeam fault on Combo 1.7 diesel, need help?

Post by thedondon »

Hey guys, just found this forum when trying to find a cure on google.

I have a problem with my combo, I purchased it a few months back and never drove it as i did not need it at the time, I tried to start it to get it ready for it's mot and while i was checking everything i found out I have a problem with my headlights/mainbeam.

If i put the side lights on - OK
Headlight - OK
Flash - Only passenger side works
Mainbeam - Passenger side works / Headlight no longer works on drivers side, it's just side light

Has anyone had this problem, is it an earth? if so where is the earth located?

Thanks

check ur fuses, and check the wires coming from the back of light.
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Had same problem. Most deffo is the drivers side bulb.

The dipped beam filimant will be good but the full beam filimant inside the same bulb will be goosed.

Hi guys thanks for the reply's

I've changed the bulb and the same thing happens

I've checked the fuse box and even replaced the fuse but the same thing happens

Checked the wires and tested them at the bulb and only a small amount of power is going to it

I've also checked the stalk and only one white wire (main beam is a white wire) comes off it, so i'm guessing that if the stalk was damaged then the other light wouldn't work.

It may be damp, but since fixing the engine, I have had it running for hours over the last couple of days to heat up inside and get the wheels turning etc so i would have thought it would have cleared by now.

It's booked in for the mot tomorrow lunch time and I need this sorted today or early tomorrow, please help?

I'm not sure but is there an earth for the headlight? If there is clean it up or move it to a new position.
