corsa 2.o 8v performance/reliability

hi im new to this so bare with me i currently have a p reg 1.4 16v sport but i have the chance of a 3dr 2.0 8v going cheap jut needs a couple of little jobs doing other than that it fine i just want to know of owners or previous owners what there like as a day to day drive and what the mpg and performance is like say compared to a saxo vts or 106 gti also what should i look out for problem wise the car has the 2ltr box and brakes shafts all the bits it needs so its not a bodge job also its the 130bhp engine out of a cav sri 130 any help will be appreciated thanks!!
