My Corsa B 1.2 SXI revving its nuts off
Hi guys,
I'm new to this site and desperatley need some help and advice,
When i first bought my corsa in November last year it ran like a dream until a few weeks ago, when i change gear the revs would hang then drop slowly. I didnt think much of it and searched for causes and everything pointed to the maf sensor so I replaced it, still had the same problem ??? so i looked further and replaced idle control valve and re set ecu.
Now I have a different problem,on start up the revs would go high and then go up and down from 1500 to about 2200 and do this 3 or 4 times and then settle down.
But now the revs will still hang and drop slowly when changing gear but only to 1800rpm and then they would go up and down from 1800 to 2500 all the time in neutral.
Another strange thing is when the revs do stop going up and down and level off at about 2000
they would slowly go down as the engine gets hotter and the lowest they have gone is 1200, and when you give it some throttle the revs hang at 3000 and slowly drop and then start going up and down again, argggg doing my head in .
I have now taken off and cleaned the egr valve and guess what its still doing it so I rang vauxhall and spoke to one of there mechanics and he mentioned a factory recall to have the icv up graded, some new engine wiring loom and a software upgrade has anyone heard of this or are they trying to con me out of 300 quid??
Would appreciate any help with this as thrown too much money at it to give up now
cheers guys
Tony

Re: My Corsa B 1.2 SXI revving its nuts off

OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts
Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Thanks for your reply mate,
I have found two ways of doing it , the one you mentiond to disconnect battery over night and the one i used to disconected the positive with ignition on engine not running and left it overnight then grounded the positive for about five mins then reconnected it, do you know the right way to do it?
cheers

Re: My Corsa B 1.2 SXI revving its nuts off
Well mine certainly did reset by disconnecting the battery overnight. But when you start it back up your meant to let it idele for about 10 mins, then rev it a little, then take it on a good 15/20 min drive and use all the gears and revs so the car 'learns' what to do. I remember once i didnt do that as i was in a rush for school and i had a really dodgy idle for ages after

at least matty knows what he is talking aboutmatty101 wrote:the way your suppost ot doit is put it on a diagnostics machine
disconnecting the battery doesnt work on a vauxhall, and the ecu doesnt reset itself or 'learn' how you drive.........only a rover does!!
vauxhall ecu's are not classed as 'self learning' ecu's
its only a computer, does you pc re-teach itself things everytime you turn it on??
