No intermittent wiper or Wiper on wash...Relay or Stalk?

Post by ManicGTI »

Alright guys...this is my first post on here!

Simple question hopefully...I have a problem with my WIpers...

-They work on standard speeds (2-3 clicks)
-NOT working on Intermittent (1 click).
-NOT working on wash/wipe (Pull), washer jets DO work.

So...I assume it's either the stalk or or the Wiper arm itself...any thoughts?

Cheers in advance!

welcome to the forum!

have u checked the fuse? although i would have thought that if it was the fuse, other stuff would not be working either.

sounds like your on the right track with relay/stalk.

possible wiring?

im sure sumone will come along shortly with a definative answer.
I'd rather push a Corsa,than drive anything else. : )

take the trim off around your steerin wheel and check for any loose connections, also check your relays. if you think its ur wiper stalk get one from a scappy they just unclip and try it. usually in my experience when the relays f**k it rattles, but i might be wrong. to get to the relays u will have to remove the heater vent thingy which is straight forward and only 4 screws.
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

I have the same problem. Another helpfull member said that it could be the relay. When i checked the relay i found that they'd done a bodge by connecting 2 terminals so just the 2 speed settings worked. So i'd check your relay too :)

Cheers guys,

Which relay is it? Assume they are numbered?

I'll have a good look at it tomorrow, pull cowling, look at connections and relay etc.

Unfortunatly the big end is making a f**k awful noise on my Golf, so have to pull the sump and have a look see on that first.

Will be the relay for sure. The relay for this is located just above the fuses but attached to the same fuse box. Not sure which one tho as there are a few relays in the same place. Go to vauxhall and get another. Cost ya less then a tenner (me thinks).

Is the Intermittent relay sperate to the main wiper one?

Any ideas which one i'm aiming for?

My house mate has a later model, V Reg 1.2 SXi, so hoping I can swap relays with his to check if it's that.

I honistly can't remember which one it is. I know that it's all one unit (little box) with all wiper relays in which is just above the fuse box.

Ahh balls...have discovered the problem.

The problem is...it's a poo povety spec merit which must not have come with wash/wipe and intermittent.

It doesn't even have the relay fitted, it has a bypass shorting link in it's place.

Borrowed wiper relay from a friend and it all worked perfectly.

Need to get me a relay then. I'll add that to the list of bits I need to get this Corsa vaguely pleasant to drive.

:meh:

Depending on the year, relay k8 in the fusebox. On my model it is first on the left on the bottom row.

Damn took so long to post this I never noticed the previous posts.
