bit of an update, this is some of the progress i have made since the last update

256mm brake setup :)

Image

gave them a really good clean as they were filthy and got them put on,
this is what the old ones were like, the biscuit barrel lids lmao
Image
and the new ones :D which have got nearly new pads aswell which is a bonus
Image
just got to get some new paint then i can do all the brakes, im thinking gold or maybe yellow....opinions?

and also got the engine wiring loom stuck in so its ready to go when i get the new inlet manifold
Image
Image

also got the exhaust manifold bolted back on aswell as the downpipe
Image

but still needs a bit of modifying to make it join to the original system, just got to get some pipe and join them together
Image
Image
Image

went to the scrappy and got a inlet manifold off an astra F x18xe, its a hell of a lot different to the one fitted to a vectra, doesnt have any variable inlet stuff and as this astra had no egr system it has silly vacuum pipes to worry about

found a few differences in the way the water pipes connect up but that was easily sorted, used the welder to block off the water connection on the inlet and retained the system that was on the old throttle body as the one on the astra was completely different....:)

then gave it a bit of a clean
Image

pic of it half finished
Image

while i was doing that my dad set to blocking the ports up on the exhaust for the SAI valve, which i wont be needing, he used the original pipe but just cut off the bits that go into the exhaust and welded the ends up, then just bolted them in, all i got to do now is change the coolant housing on the side of the block to get rid of the egr, but already got one sorted ;) took it off that astra and ive hidden it somewhere, going to scrappy on monday to nick it lmao

excuse the flakey paint on the manifold, it wants re-doing :)
Image

then i got all the inlet maifold bolted up and finally got the engine wired in :D

had to change the fuel pipes aswell so i just cut the rubber pipes off and sleeved the new ones over then used proper petrol pipe clips

got a 16valve header tanks aswell but wasnt happy with the way it was looking, usual brown colour :p so blocked the pipes off and left it to soak in some bleach for a few hours, then cleaned inside with an old toothbrush ;)

heres the result :D
Image

also got a crank breather hose to remove the modification that vauxhal did, but no pics

so thats what i got done, heres a few pictures of how it stands at the minute :)

Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

got the cambelt done :D

Image
Image

and put the cover on :)

Image
Image

i also wasnt happy with the way the header tank turned out after bleaching it so decided to stick it in the dishwasher lmao and while i was at it i thought i might aswell put the washer bottle in aswell as it was really mucky, while i was waiting on that to finish i cleaned inside where the washer bottle sits etc aswell as all the scuttle panel

heres a few pics of how it stands now, looking a lot cleaner i must admmit :D

Image
Image

also got a astra GTE digi dash to put in but it needs a bit of work to make it look a bit nicer than what it does at them minute as its a mess lmao

thats it for now

more updates soon

cheers :)

2 reasons really the first being everyone doing a corsa conversion goes and gets a redtop, most of which have done hugh mileage or had numerous rebuilds.the x20xev is virtually the same all mounts, wiring etc is all the same the main differance is in the valve angle of the head ,the ecotec head does restrict the bhp slightly but thats done for european emmisions .the second and most important reason was dad had a vectra cdx not being used but in perfect condition which he said i could have for conversion bits if i wanted it so an instant saving of at least £300 on an engine and ecu which is what it would cost to rebuild a redtop without buying one first
