egr valve

Post by corsacrusin »

Hi all,

I have a new fault code appearing on my engine management system.

I went to my local garage showing the fault, and they told me my egr (exhaust gas recirculation) valve is the cause.

I have tried looking up the threads here and had no luck, also on the internet and nothing.

It seems a easy job to remove my egr valve on my corsa breeze 98 R-reg 1.2 8V (X12SZ).

I was wondering are there any links here of pics etc how to go about cleaning it? Or is this more of replace the item?

Thanks

OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

That great thanks!

Seems a simple job on my car. Need to find some carb cleaner some time.

Has anyone cleaned there existing egr valve before? How long has it lasted that it has to be done again?

I changed the gasket a few years ago, they have a metal gasket instead of paper when it was first fitted. Thanks for the advice, will have my hanyes manual with me when doing the job. Just it don't tell ya how to clean it. It says you should go to a dealer regarding the egr valve. Has anyone opened one up before and tested it mechanically and electrically?

I see what you people are getting at with blanking the egr valve. But, I wish to keep the car in the same state as it is.

I would like to improve the condition of the car, not 'boy racer' look it. No disrepect to anyone.

Thanks for the advice and adding comments to this post!
