Hi all,

I came across this youtube vid tonight. I went on his website http://www.diy-dvds.com/

I went under the 'Corsa Manual Workshop DVD' which shows a brief vid of jobs (phil) has done for a corsa b.

He sells a DVD of pretty much all the jobs you could do on a corsa.

Thought it was good from the youtube vid,


I noticed you can buy the full dvd of the jobs.

Was wondering, has anyone bought this DVD before from him? Is he a member here? Is it any good? Does (phil) deliver the DVD to you without troubles?

Is he reliable? Much appreciated!

Seriously...just buy a Haynes and get dirty

None of the stuff on the clip could not be explained in a couple of lines and a couple of good pictures.

i'd want to see more detailed videos of actually tricky jobs first.

The examples he uses in that Corsa clip are pretty retarded. Changing headlamp bulbs...he just yanks the plastic air intake out, not mentioning there should be clips holding it to the slam.

Also, copper grease...he should definitely be adding details on stuff like that. Ie How much? It's those details that formal guides possibly don't cover well. Too much grease of any kind is fairly obviously a very bad idea anywhere near a clutch.

Appreciate the replies for this topic. I too have a haynes manual and have took pics of jobs I have done to my car.

The reason I post this topic up is, has anyone bought this guys dvd?

Also great to see refrences in colour and actually doing the jobs gradually compared to a haynes manual.

I got this DVD about a week ago. Content is good, for a non-mechanic type like me. After watching, I’m fairly confident I can change my broken suspension spring, soon as I get hold of the tools (I don’t even have a socket set). No way I would have attempted it before.

I like his casual style, his willingness to use basic common tools where specialised tools are recommended (he adds caveats). And he doesn’t take himself too seriously (leaves in some bloopers and explains when he makes a mistake).

Only problem is my copy was shoddy. The video quality had become compromised during encoding/burning resulting in juddering and sometimes freezing. Currently waiting for him to get back to me about replacement.

The DVDs seemed a little expensive at first. Until I realised how much money I’m saving by replacing the spring myself. Not to mention all the other little jobs I’ll probably be able to do myself now. Replace brake pads/shoes/drums/disks/wheel bearings/springs/dampers/CV joints and so on. Mostly basic MOT stuff.

Just be aware that the car he uses has a 4-cylinder diesel engine. So some of the engine work may not apply to you, as it doesn’t to me. Mine’s a 1.0, 12v, 3-cyl, petrol.

Probably a waste of money for anyone already comfortable doing the things I mentioned above, but for beginners like me, dead handy. I also liked the neat cases the DVDs came in. Never seen one before. Has a little button/lever you push that ejects the disk.
