Speed buggy?
If it doesn't fit,
force it,
If it breaks,
It needed replacing anyway

A dastardly and muttley theme would just be the best imo :)

Another busy day.

First put the handbrake back (No - not the wife... That funny lever that makes you turn real quick haha). Then spent most of the day fitting my race seat. Heluva job. Didn't want to use the standard rails as they just don't give a solid feel, and the seat sits too high. Went and bought a 500 x 500 3mm steel plate, and set about molesting it. After a bit of trimming I had it as I wanted, then set about mocking up the position of the seat. Marked out the mounting points and drilled the holes for them. Turned the plate upside down, put the bolts through and welded them in place. Then using my appalling welding skills I had it all in place. Also fitted 2 M12 bolts at the back that are bolted through the body to add extra strength/stability.

Next I put the seat in, and it went in perfectly. Seat angle is spot-on, leg still comfortably bent when the clutch pedal is all the way in, arms comfy. I actually always sit fairly close to the steering wheel - just more comfy for me, and makes it easier to drive when going balls-to-the-wall. Seat position is nice and low, and I know the banner sticker that goes on the top of the windscreen won't obscure my vision. Had a look at how things sit when I'm wearing my helmet, and there is about 2 inches of space between my pot and the rollcage... Good...

I then stood back and wondered what to do next. Decided that seeing as there is still so much to do, I'll just start at the back and work my way to the front...

Fitted the tailgate rubber as well as the window rubber. Put the towing strap in place (rules state no metal prodruding tow hitch-thingies). Found a leftover set of numberplates from the turbo UTE's days and fitted it - why not haha. Also put the fuel filler flap in place.

Really starting to come together now

Back at work, so progress slows down...

Tonight I fitted the passenger side window and rubbers, as well as the door rubber. Makes a big change - now when you slam the door it doesn't go KLANG-klang-klang anymore... Now it just goes KLANG! Haha

Will do the driver's side tomorrow morning before graft

Took it for a drive - nothing fell off haha

Motor feels pretty strong, but I didn't really give it beans as it's not mapped yet, and the exhaust is not connected to the branch yet. CPF is probably up in arms about the amount of noise I made hehehe

Tomorrow morning I'll have the zos sorted
