Re: 1.6 16v Project. Pic Heavy
Little bit more of an update, Got a good few bits done. More to the engine than the car.
Pics........
Stuck the fuel cap on to see what it looked like, I like it
Then set about cleaning the engine
Finally after hours of cleaning i got the paint out, Went for matte black for the block. Thought if there is a leak it would be easier to see(thats the plan anyway lol) Also got all the timing covers painted up.
Then fitted my new timing belts and tensioners before putting covers back on then decided to stick exhaust on to make it look a bit better lol
Couldn't do any more to the engine for now (waiting on bits from vauxhall) So i finished plumbing in the brake lines and got the stub axels back from my brother, He took them to his work an cleaned them up for me
And last but not least got a lot of my bits chucked in the van an took them down to be powder coated
Thats it for now guys. As always al update anymore i get done

Re: 1.6 16v Project. Pic Heavy
Finally a wee update, Was doin a bit of saving for bits an pieces oh and ma holiday last week.
Picked up on of my new parts
The head is already away getting checked over to make sure its 100% before it meets the block, Stem seals, cam seal, Valves reseated, Skimmed(If needed) and pressure tetsed. Should here from the guy the mora to tel me whats needed.
All ported an polished, The ports on this head are massive compared to my standard one and they are as smooth as the paint on ma car, Its also got reprofiled cams from Kent Cams in it so should make a big diffrence once fitted. Its looking like i might have to do some work on the inlet manifold to port match them.
Also waiting on a new alternator, new starter motor, new fanbelt and tensioner. Head gasket set and head bolts should be here the mora, And hopefully the chrome rocker bolts will come the mora aswell.
Getting a bit excited, Might have the engine in the bay in next few weeks

Re: 1.6 16v Project. Pic Heavy
Been hard at work again, Guy was taking ages to take the head so i started stripping it myself. In the middle of regrinding the valves and changing the stem seals at the same time, Once thats done it just need checked to be skimmed.
Inlet valve from this..
to this
Exhaust from this..
To this
All the black suit has been removed, Just forgot to take pics lol.
The postman has also been good to me, Most of my goodies came
The engine should be in the bay pretty soon. Need to get all the wiring stripped out the bay again to wrap in my new loom tape, Get rid of all that horrid plastic stuff.
Cheers for looking folks

Not a massive update bud loads of work went into it. Ma hands are sticky as hell rippin all the old wiring and plastic coverings off.
All wrapped in loom tape now and stuck in its new position, Even put the reverse swith plug into the light loom so its not running over the engine.
Thermostat temp switches now running down chassis leg instead of over the engine
The light loom complete
The reverse switch now comes out from the rad fan plug, So much neater
Just another couple pics for good luck hehe
Getting much closer to the engine going back in. Got a bit more cleaning to do, Few bits to buy then should be good for engine in.
