Well unfortunatly when a laptops screen breaks, it is an expensive thing to repleace, and i'm speaking from experiance. £140 for just the screen and £80 for "labour"...

I need to replace the 2 harddrives in my laptop, 1 of them is playing up, but as I've got them set up as a matching pair, I may aswell upgrade both...

Your laptop has space for 2 HDD's? Have you got a desktop replacement one or something? I have a HP Compaq NC6000 and I think it has space for 2, but I didn't think modern ones had the facility now-a-days?PaulW wrote:I need to replace the 2 harddrives in my laptop, 1 of them is playing up, but as I've got them set up as a matching pair, I may aswell upgrade both...

laptops are easy to work with really. just a bit fiddly. once u understand what all the parts do and how they work (easy if ur used to buildin desktops) it all a strole in the park only plastic, metal, silicon, wires and a bunch of screws all intractley connected

Saying that though, they are very difficult to take apart and put back together, and thats from past experiance. But most laptops have access panels which you can remove to get to parts within the casing.

My desktop has 7 HDD's, and the server this site runs on has 2 HDD's aswell.

Re: IM BAACCKKK
Was refreshing the routing table (usually once every 2 months), just a slight issue so was down for like 2 mins... Can't see why you couldnt connect for a few hours tho, uptime today is bang on minus the 2 mins at about 7pm-ish
7HDD's isn't enough though, they are nearly all full

Re: IM BAACCKKK
Solid state aren't no good for the server (not reliable enough, also not durable and expensive) Server has 2x 15k U320 SCSI drives, super fast!!
Desktop has 2x1TB, 2x750GB, 2x320GB and 1x80GB (OS drive) and total space is around 94% full on all drives...
