Had same problem that engine was quiet when cold and loud tractor noise when hot. Had timing chain replaced cost of £250 incl labour (private garage).
Nice and quiet now.

Hi,

Im also new here and found this topic and wondered if anyone could help me.

Ive got a problem with the old Corsa, as I pull away from a standstill I get a dip in power at about 15-20mph about 2000rpm (guessing, no tachometer) its only temporary and the engine recovers and drives fine afterwards. Unfortunately my missus drives the car the most and cant remember if this was around before or after the new exhaust system was fitted! :meh:

Any ideas? Could this be the MAF meter? Think its had a new lambda sensor relatively recently though will need to check the service docs.

edit: no engine lights on either

id try and get a second hand one off ebay and try it, that why u arnt spending loads, also the coil pack could be faulty but methinks maf sensor more likely a culprit

It will be quieter when cold because the oil will be thicker. As it heats up the oil will thin then the rattles become evident.

ive heard a new model massey tractor, and believe me there isnt much difference between a corsa with a noisy cam chain and the tractor, no actually the tractor was quiter.

you can put a 30 series deere alongside a noisy montego (extremely loud cars when rough) and the johndeere out performs the car haha
