in asking my original question then
have you fitted a new stereo at all?

usual problem is the speed signal to the stereo,with a stereo thats not designed for it. this would give u the error with the vehicle speed sensor, also would cause your speedo to stay at 0

fitted the sterio when i got the car when it had a 1.2 in it car ran fine just the date went out on clocks but speedo worked then put 1.4 in it speedo worked for first day ( yday) then most of 2day then just stopped and the date still goes out when its on

sounds odd but try unplugin the stereo then
the date will go off if you have an aftermarkert stereo, thats another problem to be fixed but lets sort your speedo out first
try unplugging the stereo and see if the speedo works

as you mentioned you changed the engine

i have never been in a corsa with an after market stereo fitted where the date doesnt go off when the cd player is on lol. make sure the cable is in the gearbox and back of the clocks properly, did the speedo jump up and down when driving?

i have, my old corsa
you need to take the mfd out and remove a wire from the back

which wire?

i belive its pin 8 on the back of the mfd wiring plug,
i have posted full details about this before, on this forum but i cant seem to find it,

and as i dont own a corsa b i couldnt say for sure if it is or not
let me do some digging and il get back to you
