na if i want a turbo i\'ll buy a car with a turbo already in it, innit.
yeah smart man! ive spunked too much money at my car, you have to be really dedicated or do it as a \'calibra turbo\' engine transplant for it not to blow a hole in your cheque book (well a calibra turbo engine aint cheap, but probs is the most cost effective way of doing it)
If you get a calibra turbo (c20let) engine in ya car! the newest engine is 10 years old! and have at least 90k miles on them! to get it fitted professionally, you would need to get it re-coned, and the turbo re-coned which adds up to nearly in the region of 6k! If you get a (z20let) which is in astra gsi\'s, etc etc, this costs you 6k as well but with an average of 7k miles! this is much more reliable and has more or less the same power as standard c20let.

i thought the astra gsi engines were prone to blown headgaskets, few people have said that to me, think ive also heard it was only on the early models tho :?

It\'s as easy to find high-mileage Z20LETs as it is to find a low mileage C20LET. Don\'t worry about how many miles an engine has done - I\'d rather get an LET from a Cav that has been driven up and down the M6 for most of it\'s life than a Z20LET from a VX220T that\'s been caned around the track for the few miles it\'s covered.

FAQ time....

My 1.2 has done 91k, its 1.2 8v,my friend is selling his 1.2 12/16.v not sure yet, with only 45k, i wanna swap the engines so that i can do my car up abit with the engine dying.

Where do i start, obvoiusly ill neeed to talk the DVLA but is there loads of forms, does it take forever, does it cost anythink,

how much abouts is it to get a engine conversoin in a garage about.

if it costs loads then its not worth the effort, ill just get a new car, but its the DVLA is pretty easy and its fairly cheap for the garage then ill book it in asap.
