wh03_mad wrote:tbh as everyone else has said ... if you managed to get 100bhp in a 1.2 12v the piston con rods would not take it ! you WILL blow the bottom of your engine apart ... there aint not question about it. You would need a better cooling system better exhaust and a fair few other bits.

You can get a redtop for £150 if you know where to look ... conversion kit £350 ... and then either buy a second hand exhaust or get someone like ... dare i say it .. powerflow to make you a custom one.

There perfetly legal .... providing you declair it .... one of my friends made the mistake of not telling insurance ... cops pulled him .. and he got his car crushed !

If you wana learn more about mechanics then yeah the 1.0 is a perfect tinkering toy .... there is also some good online e-courses that can teach you alot ... also howstuffworks.com has plenty of good articles on how a engine works and the machanics of a car.

Just think about it long and hard mate ... £500 is a fair bit of money ... no point in putting it in the drain !

Would yhu like to share the info of where to get a redtop for £150 please as im currently looking for one ? :)

See to be honest with you, and speaking as an old man who has been there and done it (I'm 32 now). Forget about it! save up your money, and wait till you have a couple of years ncb and then buy something with the power and insure it.

Even if you do strip the whole car and everything else your are planning to do, your insure company will rape you, if you do the dumb thing and font declare it, the cops will rape you, either way your gonna get your ass full of c@ck that you really don't want!

100bhp your engine will probably last less than a week before the bottom end destroys itself from the pressure, ok lets be fair we can see you really want to tune your car but 100bhp is well over the safe thresh hold of that engine 80bhp is more reasonable or 75 but with a 100bhp say bye bye engine

Hi my name is luke and you could easy get 100BHP. Take your car to a car engineer and get them to lighten and balance your crank, Port & polish, biger valves, uprated flowers and double valve springs. Then put on some kent high lift cams with pullys then get it rolling road with a performance chip and you should get more than 100bhp. It's not that bad on price really they are really good and you get loads of power. Also you can uprate your fule pump and put a power boost valve on to get a bit more. There are alot more you can do but is how much you are willing to spend. I no someone that has turboed his 1L corsa and beats 2L's easy.

like we've said it is possible, but the engine and gear box cudnt take the abuse and it wudnt last long and would be a waste of money.
