haha yea im putting a good amount of work into it to make it mechanically sound and the little extra bits iv got planned, but bodywork wise im not that fussed as i like cars that look rough, hide the goodies, but goes like stink

right iv managed LOADS today
what it looked like at the start of the day,
mounted the alternator by using the alternator mount of the 200TDI engine spaced out by about inch and a half, then used series 3 alternator tensioner bent with a dog leg in it, and then used a corsa B 1.2 8v alternator mount for the top mount of the belt tensioner, and then used the standard 200TDI fan belt
quite please about it
then i thrashed at the bottom of the rear tub with a hammer and got pretty much all the manky black tar off which chipped and fell off, then i painted over it with some black chassis paint to look good before dinner,
then went to retrieve some bits of my spare land rovers and came across a land rover handbook portfolio and look what i came across
then when i got back i mounted my new brake servo and cylinder, just needs a bit more of a sand and a lick of paint,
then i tacked on the door pillar and the footwell
then just now before tea i had some help and replaced the rear tub, and hell iv got some ground clearance at the back hope it settles down a bit
and just placed the front arch on to see what it would look like,
then a photo of the other side,

iv done the fuel lines and fuel filter lines this morning, just got to put the return to the tank now from the injector pump, then sort the wires out for the engine, all be it only a few as it hasnt got an ecu or anything but even so its fryin my head
but then just copper pipe to front brakes, and then sort water pipes out, and intercooler pipes out, then make sure all the bolts are in place. give it two weeks and i should have it road worthy, or so i hope...

nice one mate. is it no just like live and earth wires? using the original wiring loom? doing any upgrades on the engine?:P

yea gota try and match the engine wires up to the original series 3 wiring and connect the original alternator wires up to this engine and alot of summut else
, a mates done one of these conversions before so i might get him to pop down and do it for me
when its passed MOT just going to turn the turbo up to maybe 1.5 bar or something, and then turn the fuel up at the same time so its got a bit of poke behind it
but iv got to be careful i dont snap a rear half shaft as these tend to shear with the intense torque compared to the original 2.25 petrol engine that was in it before

had a great break through just now after i got home from work
i did a bit of bodging to the wiring to extend them and carefully turned away and touched them on the battery and got no sparks which was good then a bit of head scratching, then did it again with another wire and no sparks then i crept around to the steering wheel and took a deep breath incase anything blew up and turned the key.... and the fuel pump clicked first which was nice
then turned it again and the engine turned over so happy now
