Yea, well 17's are for astras. they are too big for corsa's. 16's looks good but they have to be ET49-45 to get away with it so you can lower it onto them.

You put the 17's on a corsa and you knacker the handling. In motorsport, 15" wheels are used on the corsas, and thats done for a reason.

then again, i respect that some people will have different opinions so i think its wrong to have a go at anyone. however the fact is, 17's are too big for the car!

a think that 17 yeah they may look slightly beter but they O_o nearly everything up on the car such as handling speedo they can rub

and a poo hot pair of 15's with your car lowered give optimal performance

i aint saying i dont like 15's with the car lowered...but i like 17's on the car too...not too fussed on "performance" as im hardly racing my car around the streets anyway...so looks mean more to me then performance

im not rallying mine around the streets either but as u said u want looks more than performance and i want to still be able to hit a corner at 40 50 without ending up in a tree

I know nothing about cars; or at least very little.

I live in Essex but approaching 39 years old hardly makes me a 'boy racer'.

I bought my 93 1.5 TD Corsa B as a cheap to run car. It just happened to come with a set of TSW Black Ice 15" wheels and Yokohama tyres (immaculate except slight 'kerbing' on passenger side front wheel).

I do not have power steering and because of the wheels steering is quite hard. Parking is very tricky as I normally reverse park. Last car was Ford Orion 1.8i with power steering etc. so this is taking some getting used to.

Is there anything I can do to improve handling without buying new wheels? (in 'idiot proof' language please)

I wouldn't have the first clue how to 'lower' my car.

would be easier if you had standard wheels on them?.. or stiffing the suspension with new springs..

The majority of people who drop their car also forget that they are altering the whole steering geomotry.

If a car is lowered even as little as 5mm, the tracking/castor/camber will be altered, just incase you were wondering why the performance went tits up with the new springs and shocks It generally costs anything from £20 upwards for 4 wheel allignment, get it checked.


A good general rule of thum if you dont want your speedo to get you speeding tickets: for every inch you increase the wheel diameter from starndard, decrease the tyre profile by 5.

eg 195/65R13 on a 13 ins wheel to 195/60R14 on a 14 ins wheel.
