Cheers lads, Its been a while

Been working away alot so the motor has took a back seat over the past 12 months. I've also not been on this site for ages so here's were its upto. Its not forgotten

Bits collected.

New syncro's for the gearbox.

New plate for it.

I've also got all my fuel setup sorted now. Looking forward to seeing this in the back when it’s all painted

Image

I was going to go for a big fancy turbo but I’m not going for massive power. And going for the big blower and manifold would have just been money down the drain for me. The shell is right and the suspension is right to the best a Corsa can be really, and I want to enjoy it on the road and track so I'm not really pushing for much more over 300bhp to be honest.
So with running with the EDS PH4 I've gone for the right Turbo for the setup which is a K26 hybrid. Plus I'll be happy the bay will look OEM.

Some pics from the body shop :D

And while the car is away I needed to get the engine ready. This in mind I decided to get the new block and head I bought a while back out for a clean-up, as well as getting it ready to fit the cams and time it all up.
I was gutted to find the crank damaged when I took the bottom pulley off.

Image

I should of really check this when I bought it. It's something I never would have expected and I didn’t take the pulley off at the time.
I'm very surprised that the guy would even build a bottom end up with a crank in that condition. The engines brand new with all new pistons and rods and never been run.
I've had the motor sat in the corner for nearly 3 years now so what’s done is done and it's time to sort it out.

I started off by stripping my mint standard low miler that was originally in my Corsa in order to get the crank out.

Once that was stripped I nipped it all back up together, filled it with oil and popped it all back in the corner of the garage as it's an un-skimmed COSCAST and a mint block for a spare

I then got the new built motor with the damaged crank and started to strip it so I could get the block ready to go off to my local engine builder to have the crank replaced and nessersary bits done.

Rebuilt COSCAST head

And bottom ready for the crank swap.

And Z20LET pump with modded pick up ready to go on.

Well.... I thought I'd strip the new built block down myself so it will be a straight forward put back together correctly for the engine builder. I was also interested how the oil jets where done on the block with regards to the shells. As expected the shells where drilled so I can notify the engine builder what needs doing.

Anyway.... I am SOOO glad I've done this as it looks like the who ever built the motor was no expert. It looks like the motor has been run at least at idle and there are some very slight touch marks on the sides of the pistons which suggests the piston to wall measurement on the bore is slightly wrong, AND... on number 3 rod, they have used some run of the mill washers on the rod bolts  .

Image

Rule to self! Have your own motor built and don't buy second hand 8)

A few more pics of it stripped ready to be done propper.

Hello oil jet :)

Image

86.5 JE pistons and rods :)

Image

And I picked these up yesterday :)

That's all for now.

Just time and patients mate. I work out in Saudi a lot so that's why it's taken years to do. But I'll never ever sell the car. I've got a little soft spot for the Corsa and I've had this one 10 years lol.
