unfortunatly this car is no more! due to the law changing again!! my car was classed as uninsured, so i had it siezed off me and now facing 6 points on top of the 3 i already have and a £200 fine. i had insuance and as many mods declared as i could, sent my logbook off to be changed as i put a new engine in, and f**k me i got pulled and he popped the bonnet and took the car. the copper said to me when u modify a car now it works on a point system which is here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/Bu ... G_10014199

if your car has more than 8 points, it has to be insured then mot'd, then the dvla sned someone to come and basically re-mot it and go over everything and i mean everything to make sure your car can handle the changes, looks like engine conversions and modifying isnt as easy as it used to be

well i said to the copper, as far as i was concered all you had to do was send off the logbook notifying the change of engine and then tell ur insurance about any mods, he said with cars like mine which he classed as being 'radically modified' you have to get it checked by them to make sure it meets requirements, i mean my car was on coilovers alloys swapped engine and stripped interior, which i didnt think was that much really

well you'v passed then?

The vehicle must score eight or more points to retain the original registration mark
The following values will be allocated to the major components used:
chassis or body shell (body and chassis as one unit - monocoque ie direct replacement from the manufacturer) (original or new) = 5 points
suspension = 2 points
axles = 2 points
transmission = 2 points
steering assembly = 2 points
engine = 1 point

you have the standard chassis which is 5 points, and axles which is 2, and steering assembly which is another 2, so thats 9, you only have to have any more than 8.

Shame mate, hope you get the car back in one piece. When one of our cars got impounded over xmas, a few things went missing, and they wont pay up for them either.

ill take some pics of the strip down and the build up of the new one, going to go euro with the new one, there normally ok but recently they have been clamping down on mod'd cars, my mates got a hyundai coupe and he had the hyundai badge replaced with the import badge and they tried doing him for that! if its modified they want it off the road so doing everything they can to make it harder to modify your car. everything better be in it when i colelct it otherwise i wont be happy, they can touch it until the 14 days is up, so happy days and there will be some good bits for sale soon, ive got a full 2.0 8v conversion ready to go straight into a corsa running 2.0 driveshafts, inlcudes loom for the corsa mounts etc, all bolt in, calibra heated leathers, rear polycarb windows, will make a list once ive got it back and worked out hwat im keeping for the new one

well getting the car back kinda didnt go to plan, my bro couldnt get insurance nor my dad or work on the corsa so today i had to go sign it over to the police and say bye :(

Image

BUT

i found out that all the cars siezed by police go to a local scrappy where they get destroyed, but if the owner wants to can sell parts off, and luckily my friend works for them and his dad and grandad own the place! and said for a fraction of what it would have cost me to get the car back, i can have it back go to the yard and take anything i want bar the shell or engine block :D im so happy its unreal! he said it'll take a few weeks to get processed but when it comes in he will put it to the side out the way, give me a ring and i can go up there and commence the salvage. happy days!
