Hi, I have a problem with my sisters corsa 1.2 that wont start AT ALL!

No clicking from the starter motor, battery is fine, checked all the connections in the engine bay, the dash is lighting up fine and it looks to me like it may be the switch? It has recently had a new dizzy, cap and leads....

has anyone else had a problem like this? Im a mechanic for toyota and it happened about 11pm tonight, so i thought id put a post on here to point me in the right direction before wasting loads of time on the knacker!

It is a 1994 1.2 8v in case that is important!

Thanks for any help!

does the igniton come on?

when you turn the key can does the starer motor try to spin the engine but it just not fire? or nothing

have you tryed to "bump" start it?

it could either be the switch or the starter motor could have said bye bye

id check if current is passing accross it or if it spins off the car :)

hope it helps

Right a lal update!

Is the ignition switch a common fault?

I bump started the car tonight after work and is started, the car WONT SPIN OVER ATALL from the key, but if on the "on" pos everything lights as it should, just when you go to "start" nothing happens (it wont spin the starter motor!)

getting a live to the starter etc... and all the fuses look ok!

is there any known problems with the starting systems on these vehicles?

I am a mechanic for Toyota and the Vaux dealer mechanics are as much use as a choco fireguard!

thanks for the help so far though!
