iv scraped that idea its all a bit poo im getin a new engine not anything big just a 1.4 and then im gonna do it properly

Because a K&N induction kit draws in hot air from the engine as its an unprotected cone. Hot air then often causes flat spots when accelerating and generally isnt good for the running of the engine, whereas a drilled airbox is drilled on the side away from the engine, leading to more cold air getting taken in, no flat spots and you gain the induction noise. Far from ridiculous to be honest mate.

he is on about a full K&N induction kit direct cold air feed from the outside world straight into the engine
thats really cold cold air being jammed into a pipe and getting forced into it
not like me tho
the cheepskate i am just a filter lol
when i get money im going direct after everythin else lol

If he was talking about a full kit, then yes without a doubt they are the ones to go for, as they are protected from heat, less restricted and have cold air generously fed to them through a pipe. They cost a lot of money though for the small increase in power. Its just when most people talk about K&N induction kits they tend to generally mean the 57i, which is rubbish.

Any kind of filter just wacked on the air tube isnt techically an induction kit
its just a filter that filters a little more air into the engine
n usually puts holes in ur exhaust
but if u want to do a proper job get a direct cold air induction kit

Yer definately agreed about if your going to do a proper job you go for the direct air fed enclosed induction kit. At the end of the day, with most products you get what you pay for and it is those kits that are most expensive.

my dad being the great ball of knowlage says that the "induction kit" f**k your engine up and if the manufactorer spends billions of pound designing a car why do the make aftermarket things
i dont think this is true i just thort it introduced more air and therefore burns better in your piston
any ideas does it acctually damage engines???
