Ladies and gentlemen..

bit of a confussion for me.. Last cuple of days my Corsa sport 1.4 has had a few problems.. The speedo was playin up. Now its stuck on 130 and the ododmeter "Miles thing" isnt rotating ..leads on to my next query.. my engine mangement lights comes on randomly AND nce in a while will just cut out..

Please ut your heads together and shout your ideas out

its a 1996/1997 corsa spor 1.4 16v

sounds like u need a new speedo cable, if the millage aint going up no more or the travelometre aint workin them the cable's gone or possibly the diod on the back on the clocks has had it, but if the temp and fuel on the clocks is workin ok then its the cable, usually around 15 quid. engine management light could be anything really, check wires that u can see to see if any or loose or dirty, but it easier to get a code reader on it, hope this helps.

speedo cable snapped, like smoothsebsta says just get a new one

as for your engine light try doin the age old paperclip test should show if any faults commin up.
but it can come on for a lot of things so you would have to get everything checked out

is it behaving odly? becides from cutting out now and again?
try explaning what it does when the light comes on

have a look at that will explane how to do paperclip test and what it means

first see if it has a speedo cable, or its running a electric sender.
then you will need either a new sender/speedo cable, then maybee a set of dials.

the cutting out is liinked to the speedo, as that isnt working the car doesnt know how fast your going and shuts down

Get a vauxhall specalist with tech 2 diagnostics to put the computer on the car to see what fault codes come up and he should be able to tell you why you car keeps cutting out and why the engine managment light keeps comming on as it could be a number of things.

Right.. the revs come down when braking or som times at lights it drops below 1rpm and bounces under and then cuts out if i dont catch it with throttle any ideas??

Not to sure mate does it have an idle control valve if so take it off and give it a clean with so carb cleaner that should do the trick.

theres a tech 2 for sale on my website for £20 posted this includes the CD to link it to a PC the link to my site is in the sig if you need one, speedos with cables start with 10 elecy ones start at 0.

Ive got a tech 2 at my work so I dont Need 1.

yeah just got to sort out the sensor...Hard? or not.

Shouldn't be can be a little bit fidderly for your first time.

Common fault on Corsa's with electric speedo's

Ive Had 4 corsas now and its never happened to any of them.

Maybe im just one of the lucky ones.
