c20xe timing belt slip
hi i have a corsa b with a early c20xe engine in it which was running fine untill i pulled out my drive just going dwn road no more then 30 mph (live in village) i heard a pop noise like back fire then it just died turns over no nastty noises just wont go does turn over very fast though.i got my mechanic friend to tow me back home where we took of the cambelt cover where we discoverd the cambelt had gone very slack due a tensioner gone loose some how. what i am wondering is are these engine safe aka dont bend the valves if this happens or do they bend them. any help would be much appreciated and this is my 1st post and wont be the last thnks jon

Re: c20xe timing belt slip
You will never be able to tell what damage has been done without taking it apart you could have all sorts of damage. The C20XE is very cabable of bending valves and damaging the pistons just like any engine. Put a new belt and tensioner on and turn it over by hand and see how it feels if it feels smooth start it up and it should be sweet mate.
