i have a 93 1.4 sri 8v, and the problem is that it overheats but only seems to do it when standing still like in drive thru etc, havent had the car long about a week so dont really know anything about corsa's, checked the oil and water and that seemed to bit a little low but nothing out of ordinary so any way done a full service on it oil, oil filter etc. i first noticed it when i was talkin to a mate for about 5-10 mins i left the engine running and i noticed steam coming from the bonnet so quickly turned it off and since then i havent let it go past 100.
it had a crapy max power air filter on it from previous owner so guessed that wasnt helping the problem so sorted that out and fitted a bcm direct air intake system.
i had reciepts and that from previous owner and see he has had a new water pump fitted.
is this a common problem for corsas of this age?
and what temp does the fan kick in at ?

Your fan should kick in at 98 degrees. Basicly a common problem with corsa's and noa's is the fan switch going.
Its a nut that screws into the side of the radiator at the bottom and the heat activates the metallic strip causing the fan to come on ....all you have to do is buy a new switch .....unscrew the old one (draining your collant) ,screw the new one in and re-fill your collant. i cant garuntee this is whats wrong but im more than 95% certain this is whats wrong .. the job took me less than half an hour !!!!!! if you can't do it a garage should charge to much !!! hope this helps !!!! ring vauxhall and ask fo a fan switch !!!!!

well i tested it today with a bit of wire and the fan is workin so i figured it must be the switch so went to motor factors bought a switch and some coolant and away i go.
took the switch off emptied all the coolant out put the new one on and seemed like it had been threaded a bit so managed to get it tight anyway got my coolant mixture poured it in waited for it to get round squeezing the pipes n that then i noticed it leakin from the switch ahhhhh lol grabbed a bowl quickly and salvaged as much coolant as i could lmao.
the only thing i had was like sealant for bathrooms like silicone so chucked some of this on all over the thread on the switch screwed it back in and hoped for the best
give 10 2 dry a bit then tested it with just water this time and wallah no leakage put coolant in and started the engine to let it get hot and the fan kicked in just over 100..
not sure how long that sealant will last tho what is the best to use

Yeah would advise that u sort that out. Like some mug who had the car before me used superglue to stick one of the radiator pipes back on coz it had split. And the other day it blew the radiator up!! Cost me an extra 95quid to get a new rad on top of the 330quid i was already payin for head gasket lmao
