what size are the corsa front door speakers, as im thinking of upgrading mine, as the ones in there arent too clever.

As standard they are 17cm.

If you change them you will need to buy speaker adaptors to push them out so the window will open fully. These you can get in 2 sizes. Either 17cm or 13cm.

yep. Some of the adaptor kits are 17cm with a 13cm sleeve. But if you got 17cm adaptor then 17cm speakers!

Something to do with the speaker magnets i think.

otherwise the window wont be able to shut properly.

Exactly that. The adaptor pushes the speaker closer to the cover panel. The magnet depth on standard speakers is very thin. It's usually a good inch on after market speakers so if you just fit the speakers without the adaptor the window will open half way then bump into the magnet and stop. The adaptor just pushes it out just far enough to miss the window.

A tip from experience if you are changing your speakers and you have tinted windows. When you screw the adaptor plate into the door cut the screws down at least a 1/3 of the screw. I had my windows done and the guys who did them couldn't work out why the film kept getting ripped at the very bottom each time they tested the windows. They eventually realised and i had to cut them all down before they would redo the fronts.

So just a little tip there!

just get 6" 300watt door speakers and mount em straight to the door on washers. need to make new screw holes. the magnet on 6" and less isnt deep enough to hit the window pane. Means u dont have to buy whack-ass mounts.

I changed my front door speakers recently. I got some 13 cm Alpine speakers and got the mounting kit from Halfords. Only £15 but i found out you can get them cheaper. Couldn't deal with waiting though. Watch out that the speaker wire doesn't catch on the window when you test it afterwards otherwise you have to take them out again.
The best bet is buying some 13cm front door speakers then fitting some decent 6X9's in the aprcel shelf like i did. It sounds great if you lower the bass on the headunit and then fade the speakers to the front +1.
If you want the car to bounce then just keep the balance normal and fade the headunit to the 6X9's. They sound amazing.

The front speakers take about an hour to fit once you know how.

rubber washers are the best although u can use thin rubber gromits. Speakers should take like 15 -20 mins each to fit at most. All u have to do is unscrew the door tray and and speakers which is like 10 screws max to get access to the door speakers. Just watch out when cuttin the original speaker wires cos they are pretty short so dont leave room for error.

you can get custom fit speakers,without using the mounting adaptors,any good ICE outlet should be able to get them for you.

Or get two blocks of wood and mount them on with no more nails or something like that cheepier and easy

Dunno, bigger than standard but I havn't screwed them in 'cus I couldn't get an adapter and I wanted to hear them and never have bothered to since...

i just got the adapters from halfords they screw staight in and then you only need screw ur speakers in to them i used the 13mm took ten minutes to install
