hi.im gonna paint some interior parts, such as vents, the surround arround the dials, doorcards etc...
im pretty good at sprayin, but just wondered if anyone with any experience of this on corsas has any advice? mainly on anything i should be careful with when taking these parts out?
this is how i will spray them,if anyone has any other tips please let me know.
1.once the parts are removed i will key them using wet n dry.
2.i will then put few layers off primer on
3.i will then smooth off the primer, again with wet n dry
4.then i will apply the paint,in thin layers at a time
5.i would then cover them with a layer of laquer but dont think i need this as the interior doesnt need to be shiny.

that explains the centre console bit. The paintin method ur using is sound. Im doin mine at the moment and have still got most of it out the car, will add pics when i got time, will make time again once it all done and back in there.
Basically the clips for console controls are pretty tedious to get off. the leaflet thing makes it look easy. it technically could be but to get em off without snappin the wafer thin plastic is pretty hard. I took 20 mins just gettin the four of em off! lol! Then u gotta undo the two bronze screws at the back of the thing to take it further apart, Then 3 wedge clips on top and two undernearth too remove the air vents section. The rest is pretty much pressure clips etc and easy to figure how to dismantle. Or at least i thought it was.
Any other questions and u'll get an answer pretty fast.
First post! Good to join the corsa 118118 team

if u look at my project log-the centre console is already done by previous owner,so im not taking that off, just touching it up with paint pen.its just the vents, ashtray, the bit that goes around the dials just behind the steering wheel, and on the doorcards just he lower half(bit that covers speakers etc) and the bit around the handle/little tweeter speakers-which should be fairly easy right?
cheers for the help btw

To do the vents you will need to remove the centre console unless u plan on paintin em still in the car!?! It is pretty tedious, but just spend a bit of time at it, if it been done previously it may be easier as more flex in em. Mine hadnt been touched so was like factory fitted still. I.e. All siezed up.
Ashtray is easy, Just four screws all visable on each corner of its plastic mount.
The dome is a funny thing. One half is really easy to undo. Just three screws, one each corner an one in top. However, to get the back half of it out u need to undo the scuttle panels and undo some screws/torx bolts engine bay side of dash. think it only 3, i will find out tomorrow. But to get the speedo out u need to take off the stearing wheel. No air bag no problem. Have an airbag i cant answer. 22mm torx bolt and rachet and it undone the bolt...then u need to pull like bitch after wd40 or get a sterrin wheel puller tool for like £15 -£20. Then u got space to get speedo out. It just two screws and loom at the back of it.
Door bottom trays i aint even gonna comment, just simple. The card material trim thing bit harder cos of window trims. The handle has a fidley mechanism at the back i believe, so may be a pain or may not be. Not done my door cards yet. I might do em further down the line but im not able to retrim and not sure if fabric paint/dye works on em verry well. I want to keep em soft and fluffy! not all painted and scratchy.

not a prob for the help...i was lookin for last couple weeks, maybe a month before i bothered to try it myself. wanted to know roughly what i was settin myself up for and wanted others experiences on their projects, but there not that many corsas that seem to be doin this thing all that heavily
Ur as much a helper to me...u just dont know it yet. Im always tinkerin, tend to go wrong along the line, so dont be to surprised when i start a thread askin how to rewire a burnt out corsa! lol

if u go on community forums..then project logs-its under white rally style or sumfin
i will help u as much as i can mate.i was thinking of leaving the vents above the heater controls black as obvs the white around wont look good with white vents as well,so do you know how easy the vents next to the doors come out? from looking at the haynes manual they should just pop out?
and im not doing the whole bit arround the dials-jus the like bit closest to the steering wheel,i will just find a pic of what i mean then post it.

alright cool, cheers man. Err..ive not taken the two vents out by the doors. i had a quick go today but they didnt seem to be coming out so easy. They basically just a bar at each side that fits into a hole in em, basic engineering. I had to ease the sides of the Centre console vent part wider so i could unclip/hitch (rather cruede terminology) them. I wasnt so fussed about gettin out yet cos im takin the whole dash area out.

i've seen that orange/brown/black one before when i was lookin for finished corsa interiors, that a bit to much though. i dont want speakers on show in the door as i cant fibreglass for a start, but otherwise cos ill kick em for sure and break em. I need a day car not just a show car!
That red one is sweet! Cept the seat look poo! Yeah the the doors look good like that. especially the way the speaker vent is done. Might use that idea myself now! the door handle not to sure on, and the window winder is pathetic..looks weak! sorry if u think it looks good but im real picky! lol..not that i can really speak. i think my corsa might just shock u a bit.

yeah i foun ur project man...looks pretty nice, stickers are a no-no though in my books. And the smoked rear lights? coul have gotten far better ones for similar/slightly more money.
Yeah that dome bit thats painted is easy to get off. i done mine yesterday. it gettin the back part off that solid in my books. 3 screws to get off the front part..then it just comes off. The dails have two screws and a clip at the top. u just puch the metal clip away from u and it releases the dials. they are difficult to get out with the steering wheel on though. I not done the door handles yet, i only started mine 2-3 days ago and joined this site as a consequence. ill add pictures when it light again. I can maybe get pics of some of the parts i got i the house ive done if any my house mates got a camera to add now. ill let u know in a min or 10.
the handles themselves are easy. it the pull latch that got springs etc that make that bit more difficult if u dont really know wat ur doin.
