My car just turned 60k last night and I have no history of the Cam Belt been changed. (correct me if im wong but i think thats what it's called and im not on about the timing chain).
Is this to outlast the life of the engine too just like the timing chain or do I need to renew it?
Thanks
Danny.

ull no if its got a belt cus on the drivers side of the engine there will be a plastic cover that goes down the side to the crankshaft pulley. if it has then u got a belt. advise changing at 60k i did mine at 66k. well easy to do i did it myself, jus make sure u get the timing marks lined up correct and its a simple case of take old belt off and new one on!

3 cylinder jobby? There chain. The only other belt they have is auxillary belt, which runs water pump, alternator, air con if fitted. Manufacturs do recommend to change at a certain mileage etc but check the condition of it first. If its fooked change it, if its not then leave it for a while longer.

How do I know if it's fooked or getting there? Are there any signs I should look out for?
Thanks

if its knackered it may be split (check the underneath of belt aswell as they split and start to crack) just opinion really if its cracked n u can push the belt down alot (no tension) id change it
