Make sure of the color, if it is a light blue then the valve seals may be leaking. If it is a white colour with water you would have water leaking possibly from the water pump. Remember though all vehicles will have a small amount of condensation build in the exhuast due to heat from the pipe and moisture in the air upon first start up especialy on cold wet rany british days
do you find it stopps when the engine is fully warmed up? if so i woudlnt say you have a problem really
should see my derv bus, thick black smoke when i start it on a morning,
thats a diesel for ya!

Re: exhaust problem :(
Aye it does sound normal to be honest, given the cold weather at the moment.
It's only when the engine is warmed up properly after a good run and its a constant stream of white smoke you start to worry.
As long as your coolant level is fine and the oil too, you should be ok.

All the above comments are deemed an opinion, and in most cases

Also even if you did have a small amount of yellow gunk on the oil cap, as long as it's not on the dipstick; this can be condensation in the engine due to the weather, not neccessarily your head gasket.
Fuel coming out exhaust as a liquid and smoking (in this weather) sound normal.
Sure there's a problem?

Re: exhaust problem :(

Im pretty sure its white smoke and not steam because of the cold, as i can smell it wen im sitting in the car. there iss onli a small amount, untill u start 2 rev and then there is quite a bit. it definatly needs an oil change anyways n serviced etc.. its due its M.O.T LAST MONTH aswell, but some welding has to be done 1st. do you tink if i take it for an MOT prep they could tell me wots rong if anyting n how much to fix it??

Re: exhaust problem :(
when i first got my 1.6 it hadnt been driven in about 2 months cos the guy before me got banned. and it was really cold. i was a bit worried about the white smoke out the back but i drove the car back to my house watching the temperature and it was fine. it was a good hour drive and when i got back it had cleaned itself out and i've never had that problem again
