jadeys car failed its MOT last sturday - 28th - her 18th birthday!! dragged her out of bed at 8am to go for the MOT, failer on :
-
front nearside shock leaking
front neaside topmount rubber excessivly worn
front offside topmount rubber excessivly worn
front anti roll bar bracket offside snapped
rear nearside pigtail sprong snapped
emissions - due to CAT
-
fixed it by thursday!! :) passed no bother then, got :
-
2 new front shocks & springs
1 new topmount rubber
1 old complete shock with decent rubber
used anti roll bar bracket
new pair of pigtails
new centre box silencer
new back box
tab lighter as mind was used
-
from 1 scrapyard for £20 which was mint!!
from the next i got
-
cat and frontpipe, including manifold and heat shield
-
for £40 which i would have liked cheaper, but stil isnt too bad!!
-
instead of funking about with struts, i took the lowering kit off my baby - the nova!! lowered her car -40mm all round, stuck it on lo-pro's, looks smart as f**k!!new plates (just plates, not regestration, f**k im not made of money!! ) and a couple of personalisation stickers later and all is done!! couple of bits and bobs left to put right - but all in good time!! did take some pics to show - but her fone is playin up!! will upload ASAP!!

cheers for takin the time to read!!

thanks, rick & jade

Glad it passed, always a good day when you get the little green slip :)

I always go over my cars before any MOT, change anything I can see myself (brakes, shockers), but sometimes things do sneak though :(

Still, better to know your car is safe on the road than just let it rot and become a deathtrap!

rite 'o'

corsa packed up last nite, trying to start it and the starter motor was going, but the car wouldnt turn over,
Image
so i yanked that one out and threw it in the bin!!
Image
got a coilpack from a 1600cc mk3 astra engine and some WD40, filled the connections and the plug on the back of the coil pack, the spark plugs, the spark plug leads (both ends, where it goes into the plugs, and where the leads go into the coilpack) and the connections for the leads on the coilpack, with WD40, greased up the bolts that hold the coilpack on, and fitted it, connected it all up and the car turned over first time!!
Image
new coilpack
Image
fitted

RESULT!!

not my car to change 'em!! i got it with pretty shagged lexus lites, i did get standard ones, but swapped them for brand new lexus lites as she wanted them!!

off to get a length of pipe the morra, to fit that daft arse zaust back on, IMO, standard is the way forward!!

rite, fitted the zaust using a lenght of pipe, and 2 clamps, isnt the cleverest, so when i get a chance ill have another look at it
Image
and generally tidyed up the engine bay
Image
tidyed up the wireing took out the battery tray, KU rusted it and primered it, then colour coded it with the car, looks smart!! copper greased all the connections, fitted a heat shield over the manifold, replaced rotten bolts, nuts, and screws, and thats bout it!! i know you dont see the battery tray, but it was more to protect it though!! looks a lot smarter now!!
Image
the bulk head was bent over where wireing for the aftermarket horn was coming through, so bent it back into shape and cut through it so the foamish jobbley (unsure of proper name!! lol) fitted properly and didnt disturb, or be disturbed by the wireing!!

all for now, cheers :)

glad its all sorted, corsa's i think are pretty resiliant little buggers
had mine for a couple of years failed MOT twice but it was always stupid stuff like headlight aim not right and rear numberplate bulb had gone
and one of the rear springs had a crack in it, that was about it

the advantage of having a simple car, simple to fix!
