Just wondered a few things:
  • how difficult is it to remove the middle section of the exhaust?
    Is it legal?
what do I need to do it?
Without a backbox will I notice a difference? (can't afford one atm)
Cheers lads 8)

not very hard just cut it out n replace the section of the pipe or you could buy a straightthru section which has the correct lengh of pipe but without the centerbox

it is legal to not have a center box however will make your car really loud and pc plod wont be too happy with a noisy car,
also if it is too loud may fail an MOT

even with a backbox u wont really notise a power increase just be abit louder

hope this helps pal

id reccomend not doing anything and saving up for:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAUXHALL-CORSA-B- ... 240%3A1318

thats a full system from the cat back with out a centerbox and with a new backbox :)

Ah, sod the old bill.
They can't make me take it off 'cus it's a bit loud. I've heard some really meaty sounding cars on the road.

Also you got any vids or anything of that exhaust system on a 1.2 8v?

they cant make u take it off because u have already taken it off, however they can give u a fix it in 7 days or else, in which case your mot will be invalid therefore you insurance isnt valid and then u cant drive and if u did drive u could be charged with driving without insurance with a vehicle that isnt roadworthy
worst case senario tho but just be carefull!!

havnt got ne videos myself but check youtube there bound to be one on there!

I meant they can't make me take off the aftermarket exhaust and replace with standard.

well if you fit an aftermarket one it shouldnt be a problem as it would have been made to the correct standard of noise level, so it shouldnt be an issue

I don't think a '97 Corsa B 1.2 8v exhaust with no middle section will be too loud for a copper or an MOT tester.

Anyway, £130 is cheap for a full exhaust system, isn't it?
Know of any other ones, like brand ones, such as Ashley competition etc?

Is it worth having to rectify before your next MOT though?

Your prob right, it wont be too loud, but MOT states that if its louder than a same car with a standard system on it, then it will fail. As for the old bill, if its mega (taking the piss loud) then they will make you sort it.
