sill's,new or patched?.

sill's,new or patched?.
can anyone tell me what the ruling( mot wise) on sill's,had my car on a lift today to fit new exhaust and noticed my offside sill is a bit soft with corrosion,nearside is ok,does it have to be a full sill replacement,or can it be patch welded,any comments would be gratful thanks.
crapper did'nt invent the toilet.
