Heavy Throttle C14SE engine - any ideas??

Hi all,
I wonder if any of you have had heard of/experienced this prob before...my mother in laws 1994 1.4 GLS (C14se engine) has a weird prob where the throttle is nigh on impossible to press down and the car is virtually impossible to drive. There's nothing, nothing, nothing, then everything-at-once. I replaced the cable as that was ruined...still a prob though. Changed the throttle pedal as this was worn and had loads of play in....still the prob remains. Greased up the throttle linkage which appears to move ok with my finger. I can only imagine its some sort of throttle body issue, but can't understand why everything moves fine individually, but when all connected it doesn't work!!

Please help!!

throttle postition sensor is a replacement ... but you could try with taking inlet off and cleaning it and also putting injector cleaner throught the petrol

i dont have a clue mate, i just go to the scrappy and its only a few £, and yes it is a c14se, the only thing tha makes it a sri is a uprated ECU and stiffer suspention, my engine come out of a mk4 astra, i still got the sri ECU in it aswell ;)

I didn't think the C14se was in a Mk4 astra, thought it was only in the MK3? If someone knows all the cars it was fitted to that would be helpful...mind you i've looked in every Vauxhall in the local scrappy and no-ones got one, all 1.2's or diesels!! :(

I think i need the whole throttle body assembly, on further inspection, the linkage feels rubbish and as far as i can tell, you need to buy this whole....

The Astra's and Corsa's both run the 1.4 mpi (engine number C14SE) lump they also both run the x16xe 1.6 16v sport lump in the Astra aswell. I've got a 1.4 Astra and never had any problems but maybe that is because the car has always been thrashed but maintained properly which alot of Corsa's haven't unfortunatly. It will be easier but possible more expensive to change the whole throttle body mate.
