i have just put a set of cav alloys on my corsa 15",i do a lot of motorway work (2k+) a week, with the ever increasing use of AVERAGE SPEED CAMERAS on our motorways, without putting car on a rolling road/re-calibrating speedo, has any one got any idea of the variation in speed by putting these slabs on,cant afford to get any more points, got 6 through speed cams in the last year.

Speedo's in corsa's over-read by about 6% anyway, so fitting the cav slabs will have very little effect on the reading. I personally wouldn't worry about it :)

Does anyone know if them motorway average speed camera's are just monitoring speed or actually gunna end up with a fine and points if you go though one too fast?

I've always thought they were just monitoring speed and the big camera signs just to scare people into not speeding.

average speed cameras area a funny one to be honest. they are supposed to reduce the speed/flow of traffic through areas where road maintenace is being carried out. Most of the time i go through em dead on the limit, but on some days the flow of traffic (on the M62 most often) doesnt slow down to the specified speed. i.e. every1 menna be goin 50mph but every1 just goes 60mph anyways. to stay at 50mph could technically put others at danger in this scenario cos of rear ending lol. i've gone through several checkpoints at 60mph and neva had points for it, this may be because so many others are speedin the motorway agency would have a flood of complaints from drivers is they tried to fine +points for all. however, it may just be partly due to time of day, if there is acctually workers on the road at the time, and partly cos if u go 60mph some places but 45 at others and average (for example) 50mph across all checkpoints u may find employees workin for them just give leway cos they not all assholes/stupid! all i know is if they were to 100% enforced the rules on these i would probs be banned by now a couple times ova lol. not that i ignore em or anything, but sumtimes it just dont make sense to obey. 8)
wat i just stated isnt offical by anymeans but it just seems to be the case in my opinion/experience with these speed zones.

on average speed cameras it is not the speed you pass through it, it is the time it takes you to get from 1 to the next, from this, as a fixed distance, your average speed can be calculated, if your average speed is above the limit than in theory you will get points and a fine etc

Points have been issued on average speed cameras, i know someone who made the mistake of speeding between the cameras and got points and a fine! :)

with the amount of motorway an mileage that i do in a week its just not worth the risk,it may pee the big wheelers off,but it is my licence,no licence no work, and i can't afford to loss both. :banned:
