Crankshaft sensor.

First off i have a 1.2 corsa trip 96. I just bought the car and i replaced the starter motor the one it came with had gotten "lazy" So after i did that it would start withought a problem. Then it started to develpop this rattle so i took a look and noticed that the crank timing sensor moved around when the engine was turning over but the rattle would go away after revving it.
The other day i went to start it but nothing so i took a look and noticed the sensor had come right off and was hanging, so today i took a look and found out that the last owner had the sensor secured by melted plastic. Yes melted plastic. So wthe help im needing is what do i do now to secure the bloody thing so the car starts and idle like normal. A picture of the mount would be great too as i think the mount on mines has broke off which is why the plastic is there, also if it turns out the mount has broken off is it safe to weld as your not supposed to weld on aliminuim as it causes the metal to weaken.
