Induction Kit or Not?

I'm unsure wether to bother or not, I like the sound and the look in the engine bay but I'm worried about getting flat spots or it messing up the engine in some way.

Whats everyone elses experience with them?

The panel filters are well worth it! If you want a cone, get a sealed kit (BMC or K&N Apollo). Means you dont get any heat sink from the engine bay. Hot air is bad for engines! I do recommend the K&N panel filters tho!

Enclosed kits are a bit out of my budget, but would having a cold air feed set up eliminate the heat soak? Like some tubing from behind the front bumper leading to the induction kit?

Drilled air box....high flow panel filter (Y) ...induction kit doesnt really look that good well i dont fink so lol

K&N........pipercross... theres some new one aswell called green something lol

green cotton..there really good..probz better than k&n n pipercross in my opinion..they have a big reputation in the jap scene.

i would say drilled airbox with a high flow pannel filter .. all the people that i know that have put induction kits on (paying like £40-£80) after a month or too there engine management light has come on .. but they have not experinced any loss of power or flat spots :S

After experiencing both of the option available here ..i can make jadgement....orinialy i had a k&n panel filter with a drilled airbox ....i loved it loads ..sounded a bit more meaty and is definetly a cheap..and safe bet .....YET.....i purchased a k&n 57i induction kit for it and it sounded amazing .....and yes the engine bay gets hot but the induction kit doesnt sit close enough to the engine for it to take in pure hot air ....the induction kit comes with a tube that you can use as a feed...personally ..the induction kit will free up a couple more horses and help the car breath better ..best option other than a sealed unit mate..but standard airbox with panel filter is also a good option ..if u wanna save moolah !!! ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT ......no way ....all peeps i know have induction kits and the car runs fine .....YET .......cars are not designed to run on pure cold air (hence a warm air feed from the manifold on a standard car) ..its a mix of both TBH.....if its a freezing cold day and you leave your car idling (with an iduction kit ..engines are known to stall..when first running) . although.....COLD DAY + INDUCTION KIT = SUPER CAR NOISE ...so in conclusion there are pro's and cons of both .......go for an iduction kit ..you wont be dissapointed when you press the loud pedal ....k&n ,pipercross, green.all good options.....oh and another thing ...dont be tempted to get a "super charger" from ebay they are a rip off iduction kit with a little fan on it ..he he!!!!
