was just wondering if this would be a suitable swap for the 1.2 single point engine as changin the wiring loom/ecu would mean havin the central locking an alarm rewired into new loom which would be stupid as just had it done. are their any decent 1.4 or 1.6 any one can think of that are relatively simple drops? i dont wanna have to change the Spi feul pump to Mpi cos of the cost/hassel. Basically aimin for a properly done, but cheap based on labour costs swap. (not cheap block, brakes etc)

hi bud from memory you should be able to drop this in as is and it mount to your box and wiring loom etc, i think corsa mounts bolt straight to it aswell. tbh tho bud for the amount of effort needed you would be better off putting a 1.4 16v sri lump in as you can get all the bits from the scrappy and there is better scope for tuning and would also be cheaper to tax, its one of those upto you moments if you wanna do it go for it it would be differant for sure

the X16XZR is only insurance group 6-7 though isnt it? i know it has less bhp and torque lb.ft at 2800rmp (from what i researched) than the sri but as u said it different and i really dont wanna have to mess around with the petrol tank/wiring loom and ecu (beside remap). if anythin i will have to pay for sum one to drop it in for me as i dont have engine crane pulley or half the required tools. seen a company that will come out and fit it for me for £400 if i can get the engine out and have the parts ready for em to put in, including gearbox, transmission, brakes etc. They tell u what parts to get and once u got em u let em know and they tell u want they expect when they arrive etc etc. engine out, wheels off, on stands and so on. seems a pretty decent deal, but i dont really know how to get the engine out either! and if i cant do that it gonna cost ££££'s

should go straight in, as essentially its the same engine as in the SRi corsas. the 1.4 8v. The block and mounts are the same...and you can always chuck an F15 on it too!

cool...i was thinkin bout throwin in f20 but it a touch more expensive and heavier! as long as im not heavy footed the f15 will be fine then yeah? and are the astra g 1.6 brakes a straight swap or there any tweaking that needs to be done?
