ABSOLUTE BRAKES FAILED

hey dudes,
i have known that i needed my drums and shoes changed for a while now, but i never got round to it and now all of a sudden something has gone wrong. the rear driver side drum brake has completely stopped working. something burst i think, as there is brake fluid leaking all over the drum and inside the wheel. i wouldnt have thought one rear brake would have made a big difference on braking but when i brake, the pedal goes all the way to the bottom then when it actually starts braking it just locks up the front brakes! its so dangerous. i was told it would be something to do with the brake cylinder or something. anybody know anything about that?

I had a similar problem last year but not as serious, one of my brake cylinders cracked and I was getting 60/40 braking left to right, I didn't notice untill it failed its MOT. A local garage replaced it for £40 but if you have access to some axle stands then you can do it yourself new brake cylinders don't cost much just make sure you you bleed the whole system properly the Haynes manual explains how to replace brake cyclinders and bleed the system.

aye...does sound like you have popped a cylinder...

common problem tbh, cylinders should really be checked once a year...or every 10-15k.
