Windscreen Prices, Problems etc

Hi Fellas,
As luck would have it I was merrily driving aroun in the forest yesterday, and a stone kicked up from the car in front and hit my windscreen, right in the corner on the top passenger's side.
What once was a small crack has now spread to halfway across the passengers side windscreen. I'm aware this isn't a good thing, and I will probably need a new windscreen, does anybody know how much they cost (+fitting) and the best places to go? Is there anything that I can do that will minimize the crack from creeping further?
Thanks

Call autoglass. (It's the only company I know of lol) Or do you have windscreen cover with your insurance or RAC/AA Cover?

Yea an idiot mate of mine slammed the passenger door so hard recently that the bloody window dropped down and smashed . Out of interest I called Autoglass and they wanted £245 to come out and replace the Passenger window !!!!!!!!! I declined , called first scrapyard and within 20 mins I had a window for £20 out of an SRI . Sadly it didnt make my 1.2 LS any faster !

2-300 quid?! They must be having a bobble. That's a third of what I paid for my damn car.
Yeah, I have found a few second hand windscreens around the place, it's just that I can't fit the damn thing. If it wasn't such a massive crack (it's about 10-12 inches now) I'd probably just leave it. Suprisingly enough I actually think it has had an adverse impact on handling, even though it's a pretty slight crack. I can't throw the thing around like I used to..
By the looks of things this is gonna be some serious mission, I was hoping just to bum down to Autoglass and get it sorted. Me and my damned third party insurance.
