Hi, all new to this forum so hello :thumbs: :thumbs: ,

I have recently been looking into buying a corsa, thinking 1.4 8v, but it seems the mpi versions are pretty rare.

My question is how hard would it be to wire the injectors and ecu from a c14se onto a 1.4 spi corsa (most likely be liberating complete engine or just head from astra), from what i can gather the bigger mpi engines are fitted into the spi cars without to much wiring agro, but other than that i can't find any detailed info in changing the spi loom to mpi.

Im thinking of doing an mpi 1.4 for the cheap tax/insurance (also the block will show stock engine numbers for insurance), The spi head is restricted from what i can gather and the mpi set up will be easier to tune (show more improvement in power and torque for less effort),

I have not bought a car yet or even passed a test as i have been a bike man for the past 6+ years (im 24 now been on the road since i was about 18), but i am a qualified mechinic and recently i find myself needing the use of a car more often and though a corsa would be a resonable first motor, I have already been given a 24mm front arb and a 22mm rear arb, along with a debadged grill frm a mate so might as well find a home for them right?

Any help will be appreciated

The C14SE is a very good engine and if I could afford to change mine thats what I would be going for I don't want a 2l turbo like everybody else seems to drule over, well maybe a track car but not for everyday road driving.

Yes the C14SE is rare they were in the corsa SRI but only upto 1996 I think I think you are more likely to find one in an astra but I don't know what model astra to look in.

If you want to convert a C14NZ to a C14SE you will need to change the head and wiring loom aswell as there is more electrical stuff on the C14SE you will have to fit what other sensors it needs. Also the compressio ration is higher on the C14SE I don't know if that will be sorted by changin the head or if you need to change the conrods.

Converting an X14SZ would be easier again the head will need changing but most of the electrics and sensors will be there as they are both dispack but you will still need the loom from the C14SE otherwize there will be nothing for the MPI to plug into. The compression ratio is the same on both of these engines so nothing to wary about there. Only problem is the X14SZ has strickter emissions test than the C14SE I don't know anything about the rules of swapping engines and MOT emissions but I guess it would still be tested to the X14SZ which means it may fail.

I would probably be simpler to just swap the complete engine.

Just remember you will need the ECU and most had immobilisers so when you take an ECU from a car remember to take the little chip from inside the key and also the ttransponder ring from around the ignition barrel.

You will also find the pistons are marked SE too, I just did a head skim on mine and saw that. so it would be all bar the block really.
