In Car Camera
I've recently bought a camera that mounts on your windscreen and records the road in front of you as your driving. (See Video Below).
I searched hard to find this and tho they are £30 units on ebay, the video quality is really poor and need human aid everytime time you drive. I am wondering if anyone would be interested in buying one? I'm not ready to sell these yet but I think I would be looking at £100 + P&P. I've only had mine for a month so still in beta testing but i'm very impressed with these little units so far. Please let me know on what your views are.
The camera records onto either a 2GB SD Card with will give you 1 and half ours of recording till the old'est clip is overwritten or it will take a 16GB SDHC Card with will give around 10hours untill the old'est clip is overwritten. I've yet to confirm the 16GB card tho as still waiting for it though the post.
The camera turns on and starts recording once the ignition it turned on (powered by the cig lighter socket) and records in 5minuite clips. Once the memory card is full it will overwrite the old'est clip. When the ignition is turned off (finished driving) the camera will turn off 10seconds after.
Video below is the actuall output from this camera which was taken from my car.
What you get in the box:
> In Car Camera
> Windscreen Mount
> 12v Cig Lighter Adapter
> USB Lead & TV Output Lead
> Manual
If you've any questions please just reply to this thread or PM me though this site and I'll be intouch. Below is a few more pictures of the camera in postition.
Remember that this would provide great evidance in an acident for insurance purposes.

Re: In Car Camera
not seen video yet but they look like a good piece of kit! Take it ur makin them ur self! Is there any way they can b done without the huge surround on them? For example 2put where the boot lock should b in the boot handle? So then u could have one front and rear! Also is the camera or lens water proof? Again for mounting outside?

Re: In Car Camera
The camera isn't water proof and does need to be mounted inside the car. I suppose you could mount it to the boot window?
Don't forget you would need 12v to power it.
Just to add that I'm not making these myself tho am in close contact with the manufacture in China.
They have only sold them in there home land and can't find anything simlar over here.
I've not got any more for sale as yet as still in testing this camera for problems/flaws but all good so far.
One idea I've come up with is to put a GPS reciever into the camera (just like a SAT NAV) so the camera can display the current speed.
I'll keep the thread informed once I've taken delivery of the next units.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!One idea I've come up with is to put a GPS reciever into the camera (just like a SAT NAV) so the camera can display the current speed.
Or a seperate inline recorder so you can connect any camera to an SD recorder so you can fit many cameras!

Re: In Car Camera
isnt this basicly what the police use, why not ask the local police where they source theirs from?Just to add that I'm not making these myself tho am in close contact with the manufacture in China.

just a thought.
OFFICAL DVLA DATA:
1414 - corsa gsi's on the road in 2008.
735 - corsa gsi's currently on the road and 436 SORN
Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts
Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

Re: In Car Camera
The police cameras im sure they use hi tech in car computers which capture the videos where as these are stand alone and don't require anything else just the one small unit. I would imagen they would be really exspensive as well.matty101 wrote:isnt this basicly what the police use, why not ask the local police where they source theirs from?Just to add that I'm not making these myself tho am in close contact with the manufacture in China.

Re: In Car Camera
Picture quality is great but is it night vision aswell or just during the day use? and wouldn't be much good if someone hits you from the side or behind? putting the speed on it would be good tho!
