1.0l starting problem ??

Hi People need help, I have been trying to sort out my sisters corsa 1.0 envoy.

The car starts but doesn't seem to fire or ignite. The pink relays which i believe are the fuel relays one behind the glove box and the one in the fuse box near the steering wheel are both clicking like mad with the engine management light flashing when ignition is turning.

Originally when we managed to get it start it ran but had bad idle, was revving by itself when touched the accelerater. At the time we changed the sparks, distributor pack, camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, oxygen sensor, egr valve.

It started first time everytime for a couple days running smooth then she got into it stalled it and the haven't been able to get it to start sinse.

I don't think there is much fuel pressure as when i unscrew the fuel pressure cap and press there does't appear to be any pressure. I can't hear the fuel pump either only the relays clicking like mad.

Anyhelp or knowledge will be much appreciated.

If the engine management light is flashing, it means itheres a fault with the immobilizer system and will not allow the engine to start.

Had you changed keys recently, had a new one made? Try using a second (spare) key. The keys have little chips in them which are individual for you cars immobilizer. If the one in the key doesn't match your cars immobilizer then it will not disable the immobilizer.

funny you say that, quite a few months ago we had the ecu changed out of another corsa 1.0, this included the part with the barrell and chip to replace the one in the key. However the car did start and it was few months later this fault occurred

to get the car to recognise the key you should be abled to turn the ignition on, then back off for two seconds then back on again, the light should stop flashing the second time.If this doesn't work try the spare key,

if it still won't work then you need to take the car to be reprogrammed/key re-registered to the ecu, this can only be done via the engine managment plug.

these usualy only drop code if the battery is left off the car or gone totaly flat.

If the immobiliser is stuck on (which it is thats why the light is flashing) the fuel pump won't get turned on Its part of the immobilisation.

hmm.. i'm starting to see what you mean, i originally thought this may be a crank sensor fault having read previous posts having the same symptoms but having changed that over the weekend and still nothing i thought it may be the fuel pump. I just find it weird as we did use to get the car starting and then it stalled after 10-15 mins and couldn't get it to start again and now nothing at all. Why would the immobilser cut this off while running?

So how would I go about fixing this imoboliser problem. bearing in mind we replaced the ECU, steering barrell and key chip. Meaning we only have the one key. Is there a method of resetting the key chip with the car?

thankyou all for your input aswell

mike

GOT IT STARTED, WOOP WOOP!!! after searching around on google for hours I found a past post regarding immobiliser issue. They tried eathing the ECU directly to the battery negative terminal and this worked for them. So I thought I would try the same... and Yes it starts first time. No sign of flashy engine management light, clicking relays, stalling and failing to start.

Don't really understand why it works as the ecu being screwed directly into the engine I thought that would earth it? But when the engine is running and I go to remove my new earth cable the engine stalls and will not start without it so it deffinately works.

Will keep an eye on it of course but so far so good. Hopefully this may help someone else.
