Air Con Removal

My air con doesnt work too well so i thought i may aswell remove it, as it free up weight and stop stealing vital HP

Has anyone took it out before and knows any tips or awkward bits to doin it??
I havent looked at it yet because i broke my ankle on satday night and havent manager to hobble over to my garage.,!

Have you tried having your system re-gassed? they need re doing every now and then but get it checked for leaks first (i use the forecourt pumps to get up to pressure then check it again the next time i go in, if the pressure holds then i get the sytem re charged (cost me £20)

yea i was looking to do that but ive since found out that it eats horsepower and its components weigh queit a bit.. so i thought i may aswell get rid of it!! i dont have any particular need ofr it.

If you realy want rid then get a belt from a non a.c. car and see how it fits, you might need to change the crank pulley and or alternator pulley depending whether the belts are toothed or v-belts,

then again you may be lucky and only need the belt and take the rest of the a.c. system off the car.

Yea thats what i was hoping i could get away with!! I'm gonna give it a try when ive got some free time.
