on the road no training or restrictions

Post by prawny12009 »

I was offered quad recently so decided to check if my full bike licence would cover me found out it won't because i passed my test after 2001,

But and this is a big but   I discovered that quads trikes etc under 550kg with only one seat do not require a qualified driver to accompany you even though you drive it by car licence rules,

The only things you need are, provisional car licence, tax, m.o.t. and insurance, and so long as you are over 17 (or 16 if you are disabled) you can jump on a quad (or trike etc) without so much as even looking at the highway code book, and because its car rules you don't have engine size or top speed restrictions,

Can anyone say race tuned yfz 450 :jezza: , its a scary loop hole when you think about it though8), how many 17 yur old do you reckon youd see spatted a week

Ive seen a few people around stafford on pretty fast quads - i got overtaken by one with L plates on at 60 mph!!! Even standard road quads can do over 70 and cuz they have 4 wheels people dont treat them with the respect and care that they wud a motorbike
