Hi i am going to travel to down to venice and then from there take the ferry to Greece and i want to fit all my stuff in my 1.4 corsa. I will be travelling alone and because i dont want the whole car to be a big mess inside with stuff moving left and right i was planning to get a roofbox. I allready have the thule roofbars that i used to carry around my snowboards.
I am interested on the thule 100 which is 380l and can handle 50kg and weighs 14kg 139x90x39. Or the thule 470l 175x82x45 and weighs about 17.
From halfords the carbon effect i liked better 460 Litres/ 1.65m x 0.95 x 0.41m
or the smaller 360l
My issues now is will first of all these fit on my corsa roofbars (the distance between the front and the back is about 80cm and the distance lets say for the front from its foot is again 80cm), then will it be safe, and last will the car make it alive from the drag and the weight, ofcourse me driving to venice will not be a race :). Also the roofbox after that will go on my dads car which is far bigger and 3 times more powerfull.
Also i would like to get the bigger ones so i can fit my snowboard inside which is 159cm long.
Thanks for your help guys

please film the journey and post it online...... it could be like a top gear challenge lol In response to your question about a 1.4 16v lasting well how long have you had the car??? HAs it died on you yet??/ Who's to say it will and whats the difference anyway, i imagine you'll be using roads so in theory it will make it. lol

No the car has only done 50000 miles and every year it has its service.i bought with 10000 miles.my issue is if the roofbox will make it harder for the car causing trouble.on its own i know the car can go from here to hong kong with only me in it without any hassle it has never broken down.

well then test it out, load it up and drive for a while see if anything goes wrong. The only thing i would say is that maybe the suspension would be a little worn unless you've canged it??

No the suspension is not changed and i am thinking of opening a thread for advice on the matter.cause now with the combat bodykit the front bumper is only 10cm from the ground and i am thinking of getting a set of adjustables (height and firmness) suspensions. Should i go for different suspension different spring (koni and eibach) or go for a set from the same brand?cheers

well i would get some higher quality springs if i were you unless you have the money to get an expensive kit E.g. Eibach etc Order a Deamon Tweeks performance brochure or buy the new total vauxhall mnagazine. They are giving them away with it and they supply hundreds of different suspension componenets and kits for Corsa B's. Haver a look at them and pick what you need most. The problem with ground clearence is always an issue with a body kit and all i can suggest is uprated suspension or a lifting kit like they supply oin sports cars. You can have hydraulic style struts fitted that will lift your car up to 45cm off the floor. Great for what you need, not sure on price, can check for you if you want?? Let me know how it goes. 8)

I will get the magazine thanks for the info. as for the height i think i need about 10cm more not something extravagant and i guess for the ones you talk about (45cm) they must be really expensive.do you have info on the cost?do they adjust firmness?send me some sites so i can have a clue how i'll be searching them. cheers
